2nd International Conference on Plasma Medicine (ICPM-2)
Second Special Issue on Plasma Medicine
The scientific committee of the International Conference on Plasma Medicine (ICPM-2) is pleased to announce to the conference participants that "Plasma Processes and Polymers" plans to publish a special issue based on original papers presented at ICPM-2. High quality original papers related to the topic but not necessarily presented at the conference are also welcome. The Guest Editors of this special issue are Professors Mounir Laroussi and Alexander Fridman.
"Special Issues" of the strictly peer-reviewed Plasma Processes and Polymers consist of original papers (including Reviews or Feature
Articles) that will undergo the regular, independent refereeing procedures - papers may be rejected if they do not comply with the standards of the journal. All manuscripts for the Special Issue must be submitted by June 1, 2009, so that all accepted articles can be included in the Special Issue. For late submissions, inclusion in the Special Issue cannot be guaranteed. All submissions should be sent directly to the Editorial Office using the online submission services
2-nd Announcement:
Recent demonstrations of plasma technology in treatment of living cells, tissues, and organs are creating a new field at the intersection of plasma science and technology with biology and medicine – Plasma Medicine. This fascinating field poses many technological challenges and brings to the forefront many fundamental questions regarding the mechanisms of interaction between living organisms and plasma. The goal of this conference is to create a forum that brings professionals from the field of plasma together with medical professionals, biologists and biochemists in order to develop a common language, better define key challenges and open questions and to move toward effective solutions.
While the main theme of the 2-nd International Conference on Plasma Medicine, ICPM-2, is the application of plasma to living organisms, we view this area broadly and encourage submission of digests on topics that relate to the main theme directly as well as indirectly.
ICPM-2, the Second International Conference on Plasma Medicine, which will take place March 16-20, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas, is now accepting Digests that are about 300 words in length for the conference presentations. The deadline for the Digest submission is November 10, 2008. Please e-mail either pdf or MS-Word version of your digest to Yelena Alekseyeva at yna23@drexel.edu To be accepted, the digest must identify the presenting author. The digest should be a summary of original work in fields related to Plasma Medicine and could cover the topics such as fundamentals of interaction between plasma and living systems, new applications of plasma in medicine, design of plasma systems for medical applications, physics of plasma discharges in medicine, plasma chemistry in medicine, etc. This is certainly not an exhaustive list of possible topic related to plasma in medicine. Decisions on the acceptance of the digests will be made by the end of November by the Scientific Program committee of ICPM-2 based on the quality of work and the authors will be notified. Accepted digests will be published in the conference proceedings.
