How to show Videos in your posts!
Video clips are now common on websites, blogs, etc. so we have now extended the ability to show videos within your posts on this forum.
There are two types of sources for showing videos on this forum: web video from Google video or YouTube or direct video links in the popular DivX or WMV formats.
Simply follow the instructions for the type of video you want to add to your posts.
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/icons/googlevideos.gif Google Video
Google Video is a popular service hosting many thousands of videos. One of the advantages of Google video is that the length of the videos is not as restricted as YouTube for example.
For example, you have found the following video which you wish to add to your post:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3807238317495330586&ei=w_yZScn2G4W0iAL9hqTICw
The code for showing Google videos is
{videocode}
where {videocode} is the code shown after docid= on Google video, in this case; -3807238317495330586
Note: In some cases, further coding is included on the line, then just use the code up to, but not including the next &
Simply paste the number into your post, mark it with your mouse, and click on the Google Video symbol: http://www.rifeforum.com/images/icons/googlevideos.gif
It should now look something like this:
-3807238317495330586
That is all you have to do. Your Google video will look like this when it is posted:
-3807238317495330586

YouTube is a popular place to watch short video clips up to 10 minutes in length.
It is easy to show YouTube videos in your posts, just follow the following instructions:
Find the video you want to display on YouTube. For this example, we have chosen a Rife related video found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MD-dVXIcVng
The code for showing YouTube videos is
{videocode}
where {videocode} is the code shown after v= on YouTube, in this case MD-dVXIcVng
Note: In some cases, further coding is included on the line, then just use the code up to, but not including the next &
To show the film in our example, you would therefore use the following code:
MD-dVXIcVng
To show the film like this:
MD-dVXIcVng

DivX is a very popular format for downloadable videos as it can store a full length movie, in DVD quality, at the size of a CD. Many current DVD players can play DivX videos on your TV, unlike many other formats like wmv for example.
In order to show a DivX movie on this forum, it needs to be stored on the internet where it can be viewed in real time. This can be on your own website for example. In some cases, we may be able to host the file for you.
In order to view DivX videos, a DivX driver needs to be installed on your computer. This can be done here (http://www.divx.com).
For this example we have borrowed a file from another website run by the admin:
http://www.trekcon.de/newvoyages/stnv.center.seat.divx.avi
The code for showing DivX videos is
{videolink}
where {videolink} is the direct url link of the DivX video to be shown.
To show the film in our example, you would therefore use the following code:
http://www.trekcon.de/newvoyages/stnv.center.seat.divx.avi
To show the film like this:
http://www.trekcon.de/newvoyages/stnv.center.seat.divx.avi
Link: Star Trek New Voyages (http://www.startreknewvoyages.de)
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/icons/wmv320.gif http://www.rifeforum.com/images/icons/wmv640.gif Windows Media Video (wmv)
Windows Media Video will play on any Windows PC without adding any additional drivers. This makes this format popular for downloadable online videos. Unlike DivX, wmv files are unlikely to be playable on your DVD player.
In order to show a wmv movie on this forum, it needs to be stored on the internet where it can be viewed in real time. This can be on your own website for example. In some cases, we may be able to host the file for you.
For this example we have borrowed a file from another website run by the admin:
http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/images/04x04-teaser-new-english.wmv (http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/images/04x04-teaser-new-english.wmv)
The code for showing wmv videos is
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/icons/wmv320.gif {videolink}
or
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/icons/wmv640.gif {videolink}
where {videolink} is the direct url link of the wmv video to be shown.
Use wmv320 for videos that are 320x240 pixels in size and wmv640 for 640x480 videos.
To show the film in our example, you would therefore use the following code:
http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/images/04x04-teaser-new-english.wmv
To show the film like this:
http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/images/04x04-teaser-new-english.wmv
We hope you have understood our instructions and we look forward to seeing many good videos shown on the forum.
