Using Copy and Paste while Posting!

Due to the way the extended editor (used by default) works, the Copy command does not appear when you do a right click in the text box where you write your posts. For technical reasons, this is beyond our control (related to how the Internet browser interacts with our forum software).

It is however possible to use copy and paste commands easily on this forum.

Copying Text while writing a message!

Simply mark the text you want to copy with the mouse, hold the CTRL button and press "C" to copy (CTRL + C). You can paste with CTRL + V or right click and select Paste.

Enhanced and Standard Editor

There are two different editors available for entering your messages.

Enhanced Editor

By default, the enhanced editor is used allowing you to see the text fully formatted as it will appear when posted. You see pasted images, formatted text, etc. much like you would see it if you were entering the text in Microsoft Word. It is in this mode that you do not see the copy command when you right click on a post.

Standard Editor

You can switch between the enhanced and standard editor by clicking on the http://www.rifeforum.com/images/editor/switchmode.gif icon when entering text. The standard editor can be recognised by a white background. In standard mode, all text formatting commands, etc. are seen as plain text which can be useful when fine tuning the formatting on a page. You can click on the Preview Post button while editing so see how your post would look before posting.

In this mode, you can use the copy and paste commands normally via a right click.

If you wish to change the default setting for the editor used when you write a message, you can set it in your User Control Panel (http://www.rifeforum.com/forum/usercp.php)under Edit Options (http://www.rifeforum.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions), subsection "Miscellaneous Options"

By the way, if you find the text editing box too small, you can increase its size by clicking on thehttp://www.rifeforum.com/images/editor/resize_1.gificon between the http://www.rifeforum.com/images/editor/spelling.gif(Spell checker) and http://www.rifeforum.com/images/editor/switchmode.gif (Editor mode) buttons.
