How to use the Calendar
This forum has a useful online calendar that can be used to announce public events (presentation, (telephone) conference, trade fair, meeting, etc.) to both members and non-members of this forum.
The public Events Calendar (http://www.rifeforum.com/forum/calendar.php) is visible to all (including non-members) and ideal for reminding those visiting this forum of any upcoming events, likely to interest the Rife community.
You can even keep a record of your own private appointments. To show your personal events, use the Calendar Jump control to select the Personal Calendar. Use the Jump to Month setting to select the correct month.
Post an Event
If you wish to post a new public or personal event, first select the correct calendar (Events or Personal) and then click on one of the options under "Add New Event":
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/misc/calendar_icon.gif Single, All Day Event = An event for a specific day with no times.
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/misc/calendar_icon.gif Ranged Event = An Event where you can specify the date, time and time zone for the period of the event.
http://www.rifeforum.com/images/misc/calendar_icon.gif Recurring Event = For events that repeat themselves at regualar intervals.
Time Zone
It is important to set the correct time zone when posting new events. This ensures that all members see the time of the event relative to their own time zone.
For example, an audio (phone or Skype) conference is to be announced for 11:00am based on PST (GMT-8 ). The event is announced in the Calendar and PST is set as the time zone. Forum members who have PST set in their user profile, will see the event as happening at 11:00am. Members based in Florida (EST, GMT-5 ) will automatically see the event with a time of 2:00pm. This solves the problem of working out the time of an event as all members will see the time in their own local time (provided they have set their local time correctly in their user profile (http://www.rifeforum.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions)).
Who can see the Events
Personal Events are only seen by yourself whereas Public Events are shown to everybody (including non-members) once they have been approved by the Administrator of this forum. Both your personal and public events are shown to you up to 90 days in advance at the bottom of the main forum page (http://www.rifeforum.com/forum/index.php).
Email Reminder
90 days before the event takes place, it will appear at the bottom of the Rife forum as a constant reminder of the upcoming event. Additionally, members can request an automatic reminder of the event, to be sent to them via Email, between one hour and three days in advance of the Event. This is useful to remind you of the event in your normal Email.
To set an Email reminder, just display the event in the calendar and click on Request Reminder for this Event. You can cancel event remainders at the same place.
Public Events are Moderated
All public events posted are checked by the administrator before being released publically. This is to avoid problems when someone posts a personal event in the public area by accident (this has already happened), the formatting gets mixed up, etc. Normally such events are released within 24 hours.
If you are arranging, or taking part in some important Event the Rife World should know about, simply post the event in the calendar. All registered members can make posts in both the personal and public calendars.
